We started from nothing. Today we look after thousands of families.
When Ruddy Rodríguez and Nicolás Bordones arrived in the United States, they brought what millions of immigrants bring: a clear picture of the future they wanted and the willingness to work for it. They started out as shopkeepers, learning the rules of a new country from scratch. Not everything went the way they hoped at first, but every stumble taught them something that mattered later.
Through steady work they built up several storefronts in a mall and a new chapter for their family. The ground finally felt solid — until the pandemic hit without warning. In a matter of weeks the stores closed, and everything they had spent years building seemed to come apart.
Giving up was never on the table. Drawing on what they knew about business, service and customs, they launched Cargo King and kept their eyes open, still looking for something more: a real way to help their community.

came into it
It was in the middle of that search that Ruddy found insurance. He started out selling final expense policies, and it did not take long to see something that would change the whole direction of the project: families needed options that were more affordable, more clearly explained, and built around the lives they were actually living.
Every conversation with friends, neighbors and acquaintances said the same thing. People wanted to be covered, but they felt lost among too many options, complicated terms and costs nobody ever walked them through. So Ruddy did the only sensible thing: research, compare, knock on doors, and look for companies that saw service the same way he did.
Nicolás became central to what came next. He brought the business sense and the structure the project needed to grow on solid ground. Together they settled on a mission that still holds: not selling for the sake of selling, but teaching, guiding and standing beside each family through decisions that shape their health, their peace of mind and their future.
Con Tu Salud Gold Star Insurance
That first chapter went by the name Con Tu Salud. Today it becomes Gold Star Insurance: a broader, stronger operation, ready to stand with families not only in health and life, but in supplemental coverage, auto and home as well.
